چکیده

Introduction Digital dental radiography was introduced in 1987, and many thought this technology would quickly take over as the standard in dental radiology. However, this has not been the case as only 7% to 8% of dental professionals currently use digital imaging systems (1). Many dentists have been resistant to change as the diagnostic quality of digital radiography has been questionable when compared to conventional film. The purpose of this Clinical Update is to review the advances made in both conventional and digital dental imaging and discuss the future of this technology in military dentistry.

In vitro Comparison of Conventional Film and Direct Digital Radiography in Proximal Caries Detection

Introduction: Various systems for intraoral digital radiography have been available as an alternative to film–based radiography. In consideration of several advantages of digital radiography such as less patient absorbed dose, manipulation of im‌age quality and elimination of processing, it has been extensively used in different fields of denti‌stry in recent years. The purpose of this study wa...

Agreement of Bitewing and Digital Panoramic Radiographies in the Detection of Proximal Caries

Background & Aims: Conventional radiography is used for the diagnosis of problems such as dental caries and failure in root canal therapy. The diagnosis accuracy of conventional radiography is acceptable in the evaluation of anatomical and pathological structures. However, it seems that by using digital radiography we can obtain more information in this field. The aim of this study is to compar...

مقایسه دقت فیلمهای Primax و Insight و تصاویر دیجیتالی CMOS-APS در تشخیص پوسیدگی‌های جانبی دندانهای خلفی به صورت آزمایشگاهی

Introduction: Radiography is one of the most important diagnostic methods for evaluation of dental caries. On the other hand, the least amount of radiation along with high quality is a main gold standard. The purpose of this study was to compare the diagnostic accuracy of Primax, Insight Radiographic films, and direct digital images (Schick CMOS-APS), in detection of interproximal natural Carie...

In Vitro Comparative Study of the Working Length Determination with Radiovisiography and Conventional Radiography in Dilacerated Canals

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare digital and conventional radiography in determining the working length of dilacerated canals. Methods: Thirty nine human extracted single-rooted teeth with root curvature more than 35 degrees were included in this study. After access preparation, a file was inserted into the canal and advanced until the file tip was visualized at the foramen. Wi...
